There are currently 47 species of seahorse in the world, and 14 of these species have been found just in the past 8 years! They range in a variety of sizes too. The largest seahorses are the big-bellied seahorses. WebSeahorses are caught for the aquarium and traditional medicine trades, but their biology and habitat associations make them susceptible to decline. My research focuses on how seahorses grow and reproduce in areas with and without fishing to ensure seahorse fisheries are sustainable.
